The ELLALAN Academy series is very pleased to have hosted an external speaker from the UK – Mr Christopher Leung to present on the topic of “Litigation in the field of Generative AI: A UK Insight”.
Christopher is part of the team representing Getty Images in IP infringement proceedings against Stability AI, and provided us with some general insights on litigation in the field of generative AI, as well as discussed a recent English High Court decision dismissing a summary judgment application brought by Stability AI. He also provided an update on recent EU and UK proposals regarding the regulation of AI.
Christopher’s professional experience spans a broad range of IP rights including copyright, database rights, patents, supplementary protection certificates (SPCs) and trade marks, and he has represented clients before the EUIPO, UKIPO, High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and Court of Justice of the European Union. On the non-contentious side, Christopher regularly advises clients on IP due diligence and the management of their global trade mark portfolios.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Christopher for sharing with us his insights and expertise in this hot and rapidly developing area.
