On 13 June 2023, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (the “CNIPA”) published an opinion piece “Interpretation of the Rules for Suspension of Review Cases” (the “Interpretation”). The Interpretation focused on the availability of a mechanism to suspend cases and the responses from brand owners, practitioners, and the CNIPA since its publication.
We have highlighted the situations where suspension of review cases is warranted. Our article also delves into the implementation of the Interpretation during the past six months and provides valuable insights from brand owners and practitioners.
To know more about the Interpretation and understand the impacts of requesting suspension on brand owners’ portfolio strategies, we invite you to read our latest article prepared by our Partner, Valerie Suen, and our Associate, Tiffany Lam.
