One year ago, our Managing Partner Alan Chiu and Associate Poyiu Cheung wrote an article on the public consultation on updating Hong Kong’s copyright regime and the urge to update the copyright regime in Hong Kong.

Finally, on 16 December 2022, the Copyright (Amendment) Ordinance 2022 (the Amendment Ordinance) (“Amendments”) was gazetted. The long-awaited Amendments are vital in bringing Hong Kong’s copyright regime in line with the technological developments and international standards, and are generally welcomed by the society.
