We’re thrilled to share our latest article co-authored by our Managing Partner, Alan Chiu, and our Trainee Solicitor, Hank Yeung, highlighting Hong Kong’s new public consultation aiming to enhance the Copyright Ordinance for AI technology. This move underscores the pivotal role of copyright in fostering innovation and balancing interests in the digital era.

The consultation focuses on crucial aspects such as copyright protection for AI-generated works, liability concerns, and the potential introduction of a Text and Data Mining Exception. These discussions are vital in adapting Hong Kong’s IP framework to the evolving landscape of AI, ensuring it remains a regional center for intellectual property trading.

A robust IP regime not only bolsters confidence in utilizing AI creations but also fuels investments in technology, driving sustainable growth in the AI sector. By aligning with Hong Kong’s vision for a thriving digital economy, these efforts solidify its position as a hub for innovation and international cultural exchange. 🌍
