CNIPA Continues Crackdown on Bad Faith Fillings

In April 2022, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) released a Notification on Continuing to Strictly Crack Down on Bad Faith Registration of Trade Marks (the “Notification”). The Notification is the latest step in the CNIPA’s efforts on tackling bad faith registrations and lists out ten typical scenarios in which the applicant would be considered as acting in bad faith. The Notification also hinted at the possibility of new administrative measures to remove registrations that are not being used.
