Nicola is a Hong Kong qualified solicitor specialising in intellectual property and data privacy matters. She has assisted various multinational clients with trade mark oppositions, and advises extensively on trade mark portfolio and brand management strategies. Nicola’s practice also covers a range of contentious intellectual property work. She has assisted clients in recovering domain names through URS and UDRP domain name complaints, and handled proceedings in the High Court of Hong Kong against company name hijackers and copyright infringers.

Nicola has advised various multinational corporations on data privacy compliance. Her work includes drafting global data protection and data breach policies, advising major institutions on cross-border data transfers, and advising on data privacy issues relating to mergers and acquisitions. She is experienced in reviewing commercial contracts and website terms to ensure that data privacy obligations are met.

Before joining ELLALAN, Nicola worked as an Associate in the UK-headquartered international law firms Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Clifford Chance. In these roles, she provided specialist intellectual property support in respect of numerous cross-border transactions. Her work included conducting due diligence on large IP portfolios and assisting in the drafting of transactional documents. She also advised various multinational corporations on data privacy issues arising in the context of IPOs and M&A transactions, and drafted IP legal opinions in respect of listings on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
