Simon has over 25 years of experience in handling complex litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution matters both in Hong Kong and the Mainland China. He is previously a Counsel of Mayer Brown (formerly known as Johnson Stokes & Master, then Mayer Brown JSM). Having spent over 7 years working in Mainland China full-time, he has unmatched knowledge and understanding of international dispute resolution practices as well as the culture and the way Chinese companies conduct their businesses.

Simon has extensive experience acting for both local and foreign companies in a broad spectrum of cross-border arbitration and litigation cases involving corporate, commercial and contractual disputes. He also has strong hands-on experience dealing with local PRC government authorities of various municipalities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Nanjing, Suzhou, Changsha, Chenzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai, etc.

Simon handled a wide variety of financial disputes involving loan facilities, guarantees, debentures, bonds, notes, futures and options, leveraged forex, mortgages, credit cards, etc. and conducted all sorts of enforcement proceedings.

He also acted for/advised a large number of Hong Kong and foreign companies in relation to their corporate/investment disputes in Hong Kong and the Mainland and assisted them in resolving their disputes through investigation, negotiation, mediation, litigation and arbitration.

Apart from the above, Simon also acted for/advised a large number of companies in miscellaneous contractual, employment and trade disputes involving complicated issues of facts and laws. Many of these cases went all the way to the Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal.  

Simon is a China-Appointed Attesting Officer (appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC) and has obtained a double degree in Hong Kong law and PRC law. He was a Part-time Lecturer of the City University of Hong Kong and is currently a Guest Lecturer of the University of Hong Kong (on civil litigation and dispute resolution subjects).  Simon is also a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and a fellow of both the Charted Institute of Arbitrators and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.

Simon has given a number of internal and external presentations on international arbitration and commercial litigation. He also acted as Honorary Legal Advisor for a number of external organizations.

He speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
